Screen Size to Aspect Ratio Converter
Retail screens quote a diagonal. Fabricators and masking systems need width and height. This is that conversion.
Inputs
Results
- Width
- 2.657m
- Height
- 1.494m
- Area
- 3.97m²
Calculation method
Width and height share the diagonal as the hypotenuse of the aspect rectangle.
Exact formula
W = D · a / √(a²+b²), H = D · b / √(a²+b²), area = W·H. Limits: flat rectangle; no curvature, no masking overlap, no viewing distance.

Frequently asked questions
16:9 or 2.39:1 first?
Build the native panel or projector ratio, then mask. Do not buy a 16:9 sheet and hope Scope bars look equal.
Diagonal includes the frame?
Use the visible image diagonal. Frame and masking add to the wall, not to this math.
Can I mix inches and metres?
Diagonal stays inches. Width/height follow the unit toggle.
